New control system revolutionises cable park in Zossen, Germany: exclusive interview with owner Andreas Leonhardt

The Wasserskipark Zossen was opened in 2007 and has since become a firm favourite in the water sports scene. In addition to the water ski cableways, the park also offers an aqua park that promises fun for the whole family. Inflatable obstacles and slides provide a varied water experience. Visitors glide over the water with the cableway for the first few metres. Ideal for beginners and children, but also for advanced wakeboarders and wakeskaters.

The park also has a very large beach with a beach volleyball court where you can relax and sunbathe. There is a restaurant where you can enjoy a day at the water. The park became nationally famous thanks to the Bond2Gether competition.

A new event area has also recently opened. The space for larger corporate events, weddings, birthdays, etc. has added another element to the Zossen Waterski Park to inspire visitors even more.

Product satisfaction:

  • Overall, how satisfied are you with the control system you have purchased?

I am delighted with how easy it is to control the cableway. After just a few minutes I was able to operate the system intuitively without looking at the control panel.

  • What made you choose the RIXEN control system?

I have always received good advice and service from RIXEN since 2007. The products used in the control system are from well-known manufacturers that have been on the market for many years. As all cable owners know, we are dependent on fast service and spare parts supply in the event of a breakdown.

  • What specific functions or features do you particularly appreciate?

Compared to the old system, I now have all the control units at my fingertips. For example, I can now set the lap automatic with just one hand. Previously, the operator had to go to the main building to do this. The pre-programmed speeds can also be easily adjusted from the operator station. All in all, the system is now so easy to use that the operator can concentrate more on the guest service.

Implementation and ease of use:

  • How was the implementation of the electronic control into your system?

In short, I can say it went very smoothly.

  • Were there any difficulties during installation and how were they resolved?

Absolutely not. RIXEN supplied the complete system and thought of everything. We were a great team and managed to completely rebuild everything in just 3 days. This included replacing the magazine, the roller beam with the rollers and elevator motor, the cable and the elevator pick-up. These parts were getting on in years and needed to be replaced at the same time.

  • How easy is it to use the control system?

Any operator can learn it in a few minutes. I also see this as a great advantage for training new operators.

Increased efficiency and cost savings:

  • What economic benefits and efficiency gains are expected from using the new control system?

In addition to all the advantages of the system, this is a very nice side effect. Up to 25% of energy costs can be saved.

Customer service and support:

  • How would you rate RIXEN’s customer service and technical support throughout the process?

I have nothing but positive things to say from A to Z. After I made an enquiry, we arranged an appointment at my lake where I was introduced to the whole system. Once I chose the system, everything went faster than I could have imagined.

  • Were there situations where you needed support and what was the response?

Of course there were. A conversion like this obviously costs a lot of money. I immediately received the relevant letters from RIXEN for the financing and was able to present them to the bank. This helped me to get a loan for the new control system.

  • Would you recommend the product and if so, why?

I would definitely recommend the product because:

– Very good service and support from RIXEN

– Faster training of new operators

– More service to the customer as it is intuitive to use when operating

– Energy costs are minimised by up to 25%.

– All operable functions are at the operator station

– Access to software via internet

– Setting and optimisation of functions on the computer

In addition to all the advantages of the system, this is a very nice side effect. Up to 25% of energy costs can be saved.
