The official commissioning of the new floating 60 kWp photovoltaic system at Wakeboarding Mannheim was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. The photovoltaic system, which also acts as a wavebreaker for the lake, enables sustainable and climate-neutral energy production.

Guests of honour at this special event were Dr. Susanne Aschhoff and Mr. Niklas Nüssle, members of the Green Party in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament. Both politicians emphasised the importance of this initiative in the fight against climate change and their support for the expansion of renewable energies.

The RIXEN cablepark in Mannheim was built in 1982 and is an important venue for water sports enthusiasts in the region. It offers a first-class wakeboarding experience, a friendly environment for beginners and a vibrant watersports community.

The RIXEN Solar Wavebreaker is state of the art and has a considerable capacity to generate electricity from solar energy. The solar panel consists of a closed system with a durable aluminium body and impact-resistant glass surface. The system is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also efficient and environmentally friendly. Owner Peter Lindenberger is delighted that his cablepark is now self-sufficient in electricity. The 112 solar modules installed cover the power requirements of the cable system and all peripheral equipment.

Our initiatives show that it is possible to combine economic growth and environmental protection. The combination of energy generation and wavebreaking fulfils a dual function that makes both environmental and economic sense. At the same time, the facility helps to reduce water movement, which is beneficial for recreational sports such as wakeboarding or for the protection of shore zones and boat moorings.
