In Vienna, we faced a not-so-familiar challenge: a full-size cable system installed directly on a river, where winter ice forced a full teardown each year. The ice would shift and push against the towers, risking serious damage. It was time-consuming, expensive, and unsustainable.

RIXEN presents the world’s first floating photovoltaic wavebreaker.
From covering the power needs of the wakeboard facility to the entire site, there is a tailor-made solution for every requirement.
The wavebreaker function has been tested and proven on the lake and in the test laboratory.
Whether safety elements such as the new standing seat, the clearly arranged control panel, the shielded elevator cage, the freely accessible control cabinet or the spacious access door. All components of the new RIXEN operator station set standards in appearance and detail in every respect, in the unique RIXEN quality you would expect. The ropeway is operated via four interfaces. For daily operation, there are two units in the control station: the control panel and the lower control cabinet. Standard operation is ensured via the control panel. The lower control cabinet is equipped with controls intended for starting as well as shutting down the system and for quick adjustments.
On the motor mast, in turn, there is the upper control cabinet with controls that are mainly required for the functions of maintenance and commissioning. The fourth interface is the user interface, which is accessed via the laptop. Here, individual presettings can be made, error messages displayed and operating states read off.
The control panel consists of an elevator button, an emergency stop and the joystick. The joystick contains the pneumatic unit: finish loading (top), preloading (bottom), catch fork (against the direction of travel) and master (in the direction of travel). The master button is the combination of the functions finished loading and catch fork. The diagram corresponds to the control panel of a ropeway system with right-hand start.
In addition to setting and troubleshooting options, the laptop’s user interface also allows you to view operating parameters. With your approval, RIXEN employees can log in remotely in case of questions, start a detailed analysis and provide direct support. The laptop interface provides an overview of all ropeway settings and offers the highest flexibility for different operating volumes.
Another operating unit is located on the upper control cabinet. This is mainly where functions for maintenance and installation are located.
Settings that are made once a day, if necessary, can be found in the operating unit in the lower control cabinet: including the main switch, speed control, automatic lap, elevator timer.

The Shun Yi Wake Park was built on the former regatta course of the 2008 Summer Olympics. Due to the special requirements of a regatta course, RIXEN developed a special solution that fits into the landscape of the former rowing area. For this purpose, our team invented a concept of free-hanging deflection pulleys, which is one of the biggest innovations.

OCP is the only cable park in all of Catalonia. The lake was built at the time of the Olympic Games and used for the rowing competition. It is a beacon project for effective reuse of an existing site with sustainable investment for the operator.
